Steps | _Key Off, wait 10 seconds
_Disconnect harness from ECT sensor _DVOM on 200,000 ohm scale _Measure resistance of the ECT sensor |
Result | Is resistance:
1300 ohms (240F) to 7700 ohms (140F) for engine off? 1550 ohms (230F) to 4550 ohms (170F) for engine running? |
Direction | YES
Replace processor. Reconnect harness to ECT sensor. Rerun Quick Test NO Replace ECT sensor. Reconnect harness to ECT sensor. Rerun Quick Test. |
Notes | Engine may have cooled down. Always warm engine before talking ECT resistance measurement. Check for open thermostat. |
Component | Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor |
Description | The ECT sensor reports the engine coolant temperature to the EEC.
The ECT signal input is used by the EEC to: Modify ignition timing EGR flow Air to fuel ratio |
Location | Threaded into between Fuel Injectors 2 and 3 |
Wire Colors | Light Green with Yellow stripe
Black with White stripe |
