de3: Check Resistance of ECT Sensor
Steps _Key Off, wait 10 seconds
_Disconnect harness from ECT sensor
_DVOM on 200,000 ohm scale
_Measure resistance of the ECT sensor
Result Is resistance:

1300 ohms (240F) to 7700 ohms (140F) for engine off?

1550 ohms (230F) to 4550 ohms (170F) for engine running?
Direction YES

Replace processor. Reconnect harness to ECT sensor. Rerun Quick Test

NO

Replace ECT sensor. Reconnect harness to ECT sensor. Rerun Quick Test.

Notes Engine may have cooled down. Always warm engine before talking ECT resistance measurement. Check for open thermostat.

ECT Information:
ComponentEngine Coolant Temperature Sensor
DescriptionThe ECT sensor reports the engine coolant temperature to the EEC.

The ECT signal input is used by the EEC to:
Modify ignition timing
EGR flow
Air to fuel ratio
LocationThreaded into between Fuel Injectors 2 and 3
